Part 6: The Egyptian room play_circle pause_circle
We'll never find the thief now. play_circle pause_circle
This is the last room in the museum. play_circle pause_circle
He might be here somewhere. play_circle pause_circle
Well, I don't think he's hiding behind those palm trees. play_circle pause_circle
How about inside the pyramid? play_circle pause_circle
Come on! Let's have a look. play_circle pause_circle
Ooh! It's so dark in here. play_circle pause_circle
This is scary! I don't like it. play_circle pause_circle
Listen! What's that noise? play_circle pause_circle
It's coming from that big box. play_circle pause_circle
Open the lid! play_circle pause_circle
No! We shouldn't touch anything. play_circle pause_circle
Alfie! Don't touch it! play_circle pause_circle
Quick! Come and sit on the lid! play_circle pause_circle
What's in the box, Alfie? play_circle pause_circle
Can't you guess? It's the man who stole the golden mask. play_circle pause_circle
Are you sure? play_circle pause_circle
I don't believe it! play_circle pause_circle
It's true! We've caught him! play_circle pause_circle
We've found the golden mask of Chapichapi! play_circle pause_circle

Ready. play_circle pause_circle
Right..What do you call a person who looks after people's teeth? play_circle pause_circle
That's easy. A dentist. play_circle pause_circle
Ok. Next one. What do you call a person who builds bridges? play_circle pause_circle
That's tricky..I think it's an engineer. play_circle pause_circle
Ok. Last one. What do you call a person who discovers new countries? play_circle pause_circle
Wait a minute..I know! An explorer. play_circle pause_circle
How many did you get right? play_circle pause_circle

The lost city

The lost city play_circle pause_circle
The adventure began when Jenny sat next to a giant ear. play_circle pause_circle
"I'm too hot and tired to go any further!" she said. "We left the oasis hours ago. It's time for a rest" play_circle pause_circle
She put her bag on the hot rock beside her and then exclaimed,"Look at this! It's an enormous ear!" play_circle pause_circle
She stood up and brushed a little sand off the rock. "Here's an eye..and down here, there's an nose. It's a huge face!" play_circle pause_circle
Uncle Jim was amazed. "It's the head of a statue," he said. "But why is it here, in the middle of the desert?" play_circle pause_circle
Pete was looking at the ground. "These big flat stones look like a floor," he said. play_circle pause_circle
He stepped onto the first stone. play_circle pause_circle
It slid away under his foot and he nearly fell over. play_circle pause_circle
Uncle Jim grabbed his arm. play_circle pause_circle
They stared into a narrow dark hole in the ground. play_circle pause_circle
"What's down there?" asked Pete. play_circle pause_circle
Uncle Jim knelt down and shone his torch into the hole. play_circle pause_circle
"What can you see?" asked Pete. Uncle Jim was silent. play_circle pause_circle
"Oh! Isn't there anything down there?" asked Jenny. she sounded disappointed. play_circle pause_circle
"There's a big room down there," said Uncle Jim. " I can see tall pots and furniture. It might be very valuable. I must phone the city museum." play_circle pause_circle
Just then, they heard a distant hum. play_circle pause_circle
Jenny looked up. "A car's coming," she said. play_circle pause_circle
"Quick. Let's put this map over the hole," said Uncle Jim."We shouldn't tell anyone about it . Sometimes people take valuable things and sell them as souvenirs." play_circle pause_circle
"How can we hide the head?" asked Pete. play_circle pause_circle
"I know," said Jenny. "I'll put my big scarf over the head. If we put the water bottles and some fruit on the scarf, it will look like a picnic. Then we'll sit on the head. Hurry!" play_circle pause_circle
A big silver 4 x 4 roared round the sand dunes. play_circle pause_circle
Two men got out and walked across the sand. play_circle pause_circle
"Hi," said the first man. "Are you looking for something special?" play_circle pause_circle
"We're not looking for anything at all," said Uncle Jim. "We're just tourists." play_circle pause_circle
The two men looked at them suspiciously. "If you find anything interesting, we will pay you money for it," said the second man. play_circle pause_circle
"We haven't seen anything interesting all day" said Jenny. "No camel trains, no ruins, not even a date palm. It's all very boring" play_circle pause_circle
The two men drove away and Uncle Jim phoned the museum. play_circle pause_circle
He spoke to Professor Hamid for a long time. play_circle pause_circle
Professor Hamid was an archaeologist who worked at the museum. play_circle pause_circle
When he arrived, he looked into the hole. play_circle pause_circle
"Have we found something exciting?" asked Pete. play_circle pause_circle
Professor Hamid smiled. "Do you remember the two men who were in the 4 x 4?" play_circle pause_circle
Pete and Jenny nodded. "Those men are looking for something." play_circle pause_circle
"Treasure?" suggested the children at once. play_circle pause_circle
Professor Hamid nodded. "They are looking for a lost city," he said, "and guess what? I think you have found it!" play_circle pause_circle
